AREAS AFFECTED: Jefferson; Wayne; Edwards; Wabash; Perry; Franklin; Hamilton; White; Posey
DESCRIPTION: At 719 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 7 miles northwest of Sesser to near Wayne City to near Parkersburg. Movement was east at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Mount Carmel, Benton, Fairfield, Mcleansboro, Christopher, Albion, Rend Lake Area, Sesser, Grayville, Lancaster, Wayne City, West Salem, Crossville, Valier, West City, Tamaroa, Enfield, Ina, North City, and Dahlgren. This includes the following highways... Interstate 57 in Illinois between Mile Markers 71 and 91. Interstate 64 in Indiana between Mile Markers 1 and 2. Interstate 64 in Illinois between Mile Markers 80 and 130.

Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km)
and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of
small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as
"cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.
Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the
water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a
cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud
formations generally pass rapidly.
